For my 29th birthday Dustin planned a special day at Bethany Beach with the kids. This beach is just south of Rehoboth Beach and it's another one that we'd read a lot about.
Since it was a Wednesday, it was much less busy. That's the benefit of being a college Prof - Dustin has a very limited amount of time that he absolutely has to be at work (roughly 4 hours per week). Otherwise, he just needs to do prep work and research, which can be done anytime, anywhere. For the record, he normally does go into work from 8-6 every day just because it keeps a more normal schedule for us. After five years of craziness, it's nice to be able to have more flexibility.
Henry got a new rake and shovel for the sand.
At one point Paige decided to go off on a little journey. I thought she was headed for the bird.
But then she turned a different direction.
And made a pit stop to play with some sand.
I love looking at her little trail in the sand.
This is where she was going: into the arms of a stranger. Still no separation anxiety for this girl. The woman was very kind and enjoyed holding our happy girl.
Did I say happy? She's only happy when she doesn't think a wave is coming.
Even with Dad standing by, she's only mildly comforted.
But mostly annoyed.
A rare sighting: Paige with her head resting on someone's shoulder. This lasted all of 2 seconds, but I forever have it on 'film'. She is still the least snuggly baby. of. all. time.
Henry just minded his own business playing in the sand and drinking his 'lememaide'. We bought one of those sand umbrellas this time around so our freakishly pale, red-headed son wouldn't get a sunburn. That combined with his long-sleeved swim suit, SPF 55 and he's good to go.
It's hard to tell because I had the wrong lens with me, but this is a shot of my kids, at the beach, preferring to take naps in the stroller/sand rather than play. Meanwhile, Dustin and I were in the waves trying to pick up shells. They're party poopers.

Love seeing your photos and reading about your recent beach trips to Rehobeth and Bethany! It would be real nice though to see your smiling face in a photo (or two). ;)
looks like you had so much fun! and Paige's little swim suit is so cute! she looks like a little bumble bee. :)
i snorted when i read the paragraph about henry being pale. hahaha. also, love the bathing suit paige has. also, also, paige looks mildly upset that you snapped a photo of her with her head resting on dustin. black and white that stuff and frame it!
