Fee-And-A-Half

Yesterday my little man was officially two-and-a-half.

He wasn't in the mood to get his picture taken yesterday.

He was in the mood to put 30 stickers on his cheek, though...

He was also in the mood to pick his nose.

First, he's a bit confused about the numbers two and three. Several times per day he will stop what he's doing and run up to me and hold out two fingers, but yell "fee" (three)! He's obviously confused about his lack of physical and verbal agreement. We always tell him, "No Henry, you're two." To which he responds, "FEE!!" and then runs off.

He is extremely particular about things. Certain doors and cabinets need to be closed, bits of clothes can't be peeking out of the tops of dresser drawers, certain toys need to be in certain places, toilet lids MUST be down, certain lights have to be off (or on), etc. He will walk out of his room in the morning still half-asleep and if he walks past the open pantry door he will shut it. It bugs him to have it be open or cracked.

Funny story. The other morning he asked me to open the drawer where we store our Tupperware. I obliged and he pointed to this mini-colander that I have... he said, "uh-oh mama" and proceeded to take the colander out of that drawer (it doesn't go there, but Dustin unloaded the dishwasher and put it in the wrong spot) and put it in the appropriate cabinet.

He's been watching Signing Time again recently and it is amazing to me how fast he is picking up the signs on his own. I have had to start watching with him because he will sign things to me during the day and I don't know what he's saying. Thankfully, he'll also speak the word while he signs it so as long as I can understand him I'm good. In one day he taught himself how to sign socks, house, table, mom and dad.

He's started preferring to hold our hand before we go to someplace semi-scary (like into a new place or into his classroom at church). He's also started asking to hold our hands when he's trying to fall asleep in the car. Crazy thing is, it works amazingly well. It settles him down instantly.

Every color of Christmas light was a "boo white" (blue light).

He calls himself "Wenwe" and has started talking about things in the third person. "Wenwe boots", "Wenwe house".

He still loves all things cooking and kitchen. The little kitchen we bought at Once Upon a Child has turned out to be the best $38 we've ever spent. He also has a mini grill and lots of pots, pans and pretend food. He spends most of his day playing with these things. Unfortunately, many times during the week he finds himself in a time-out (which is where he is right now as a matter of fact) for filling his pitchers, cups and pans with our filtered water from the fridge. He then pours the water from the pitchers/cups/pans all over the stinking place. I'm tired of wet socks.

He loves strawberries, grapes, hard salami, eggs (he loves to 'knock' (crack) eggs when I'm cooking breakfast), angel food cake, tea, soup, peanuts, salad (with ranch dressing), green beans, rice and cereal.

He's been talking up a storm lately. I'd say he's right where he should be in terms of speaking words and sentences. Some words are, of course, hilarious (and super cute) to hear him try and say.

I can't believe in just six short months he really will be fee. It's even harder to believe we will be celebrating his birthday in Delaware!
